About the Filipino Lawyers of Washington.  The Filipino Lawyers of Washington is a professional association of lawyers in the Filipino community dedicated to fostering the exchange of ideas and information among and between its members and other members of the legal profession, the judiciary and the community; promoting the professional growth of its members; assisting in efforts to diversify the legal profession; cooperating with other organizations of minority attorneys; celebrating Filipino culture; and providing a vehicle and forum for the expression of opinions and positions about current social, political, economic, legal or other matters or events that concern the members of the association. 

The Filipino Lawyers of Washington (FLOW) is pleased to endorse Ailene Limric for the Washington State Bar Association's (WSBA) vacant At-Large Governor position. This position will be determined by the WSBA Diversity Committee in an effort to help address the needs of historically underrepresented members. 

Ailene has been an active member of FLOW for over a decade, serving in various leadership positions, including as a past president and most recently, as chair of our Membership Committee.  She is a passionate advocate for the Filipino community as demonstrated by her participation in the FLOW delegation that lobbied for the passage of the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor for Filipino Veterans of World War II.  Her contributions over the years have helped make FLOW the organization it is today.    

Ailene's tireless advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion extends beyond FLOW.  She volunteers for numerous community legal clinics,  mentor law students and young attorneys.  She served as the co-chair of WSBA’s Diversity Committee and is a current member of the WSBA’s newly formed Equity & Disparity workgroup.  She works closely with other Minority Bar Associations, locally as well as at the national level, to raise the visibility member attorneys and the communities we served by those organizations.  In addition, Ailene participated in annual lobby day events in Washington DC to build awareness of issues important to Asian-American communities.

In Ailene's own words, "I want our legal community to have greater representation of people of color and I want the body that governs and regulates our profession, the Washington State Bar Association, to also be a better representation of our diverse community."

FLOW in partnership with the FLOW Foundation is accepting applications for the 2020 Pangarap Scholarship.  

Every year, we award up to 3 scholarships in amounts up to $3000 to law students in the Pacific Northwest.  The scholarships are intended to recognize law students who have a demonstrated significant commitment to community service, particularly service to the Filipino/Filipino American community.

FLOW is partnering with WSBA on a webinar educating our communities on hate crime.  In response to the rise of discrimination against Asians due to COVID-19, as well as incidents of discrimination against other marginalized communities, this webinar aims to educate the general public on what hate crimes are and how to report them.
