Please join the Filipino Lawyers of Washington (FLOW) and Filipino Lawyers of Washington Foundation for the Eleventh Annual Barrio Fiesta, which brings together attorneys, judges, and community leaders to celebrate the year's achievements and to recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly to our communities. This is also the premier fundraising event for the FLOW Foundation, which provides scholarships to law students. Support and donations over the past 13 years have resulted in more than a dozen scholarships being awarded to students from all of Washington’s law schools and beyond.

After a few years away, we are excited to return to the Filipino Community Center.   We will be transforming the Filipino Community Center into a magical venue for our Barrio Fiesta. The evening will feature an authentic Filipino buffet, cultural presentations, dancing, and a surprise or two. 

Since its formation in 2008, FLOW has been dedicated to giving a voice to Filipino American attorneys on important legal issues in the State of Washington. Now, more than ever, it’s important that we use that voice so that our community may be heard.  As such, we are proud to announce this year’s theme “Balikbayan: A Boorio Homecoming” celebrating our return to in person gathering to celebrate our extraordinary Filipino Legal Community and its supporters.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

We are honored to announce our 2022 Barrio Fiesta Keynote Speaker, Third Andresen. Dr. Andresen is a faculty member at University of Washington in the American Ethnic Studies Department, Comparative History of Ideas Department (CHID), Honors Program, and Jackson School of International Studies. He is also the American Ethnic Studies (AMES) Department Chair at Green River College. Professor Third has 20 years of extensive teaching and curriculum development experience at the college and university level.

Third is the Chief Curriculum Developer of the first Filipinx American curriculum for Seattle Public Schools that counts as a History credit towards. Furthermore, Dr. Andresen is the Principal Investigator for the nation’s fourth largest Hip Hop Archive in University of Washington's Suzzallo Library Media Arcade.

Barrio Fiesta 2019 ticket sales and sponsorship monies go to support the FLOW Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.  Payments are tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent it exceeds the fair market value of goods and services provided in consideration for the contribution.
